Alberta only · Virtual · Clinician-led
Changing where you get your care is more routine than most people expect. Here is how switching works in Alberta, how to keep your prescription running without a gap, and what is worth asking before you choose any clinic — including us.
Virtual PrEP and sexual health care for patients located in Alberta. No referral needed — most patients pay $0.

Privacy is usually what starts the thought. These are what stop people from acting on it.
01
You do not have to stop anything with your current provider before you talk to us. Book a consultation while you still have supply on hand, let a clinician review your plan, and move across once your next prescription is written. Nothing needs to be cancelled first.
02
Under Alberta's Health Information Act you have the right to request access to your own health information, and you do not have to explain why you are leaving. For your first visit, what your clinician mainly needs is what you are currently taking and when your last bloodwork was done.
03
Your medication coverage follows you, not your clinic. Most Spectrum patients pay $0, and we confirm your coverage before anything moves forward — so you know where you stand before you commit to anything.
Four steps. You stay on your current prescription the whole way through.
1
Pick a time that works. The visit happens online with a licensed Alberta Nurse Practitioner, so there is no waiting room and no referral required.
2
Your clinician reviews your health history, what you are currently taking, and when you were last monitored. Nothing changes in this step — it is a conversation, and your coverage gets confirmed here too.
3
If monitoring is needed, you get a requisition and choose where to go. Any Alberta Precision Labs patient service centre will collect your samples at no charge, and independent at-home collection is available in Calgary and Edmonton. See lab options
4
Your prescription goes to the licensed pharmacy of your choice, anywhere in Alberta. You decide where and how you fill it. From there, renewals and monitoring run on a regular virtual follow-up, typically every three months.
Use this on us too. A clinic that cannot answer these plainly is telling you something.
Who owns the company, and has that changed recently?
Ownership determines who sets the rules about your information.
Where is my health record held, and under which province's law?
You are entitled to a direct answer.
Who inside the organisation can see my file?
It should be staff involved in your care, and the list should be short.
Is my information ever used for advertising or marketing?
Ask it exactly that way.
Who is actually prescribing, and are they licensed in Alberta?
Ask for a name and a registration number.
Can I fill my prescription at any pharmacy I choose?
Some providers route you through their own.
Our answers are below, and in full on our privacy policy and licensing pages. If anything is unclear, ask us directly.
The same questions, answered about us. Every line here is on the record elsewhere on this site.

Selling your data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal or health information. We do not disclose health information to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
Your phone number
Used only for healthcare-related communication — appointment reminders, follow-ups, and service messages. Never shared or sold for marketing or lead generation.
Your pharmacy
Your prescription goes to the licensed pharmacy of your choice, anywhere in Alberta. You decide where and how you fill it.
Record retention
Health records are retained per Alberta HIA requirements — a minimum of 10 years from the date of last service.
